And all she could muster was a forced smile

As the disgust on her eyes disguised her denial and

Held back the tears for what seemed like years

With a film of detritus

But they wouldn’t fall anyway, a half remembered excuse

And try as she might they were blocked from disuse

And she yearned for the estrangement

It once felt familiar

Like a mask of her own face

Ruminations as she paced

Reflections of her solitude started to overflow

Quickly she braced

As the tears finally fell down her embattled face
